Agusan Mines

I went to Butuan City, together with our Chinese buyers sometime 1st week of March 2007 to visit a mine site. I found to my amazement that most of the people look with striking similarities. Remember Garci, and you'll get the idea.

At the mine site, we picked some garnierite stones of nickel and was able to witnessed mammoth trucks tossing around heaps of earth, as if playing like toys. You get the thought that you maybe stomped by the big wheels without the driver noticing it, so I distanced from the big rubber.

Legally, there was nothing wrong with the mining operations. But I cannot hide it to myself the ugly picture of hills being defaced of its natural green cover. They are actually ferns and low growth shrubs since the iron content of the laterite prevents the growth of trees. But consider the livelihood and development to the mining industry, I think I can waive some spots of greeneries.
